Umbria Jazz: new names at the Arena Santa Giuliana

Music for all tastes will be performed at the Arena Santa Giuliana for the 2024 edition.
Potter/Mehldau/Patitucci/Blake is a new quartet recognized as a proper super band that plays great jazz music. Keyboard player Pete Levin – one of that famous band’s members – reunited an ensemble with the main musicians of Gil’s orchestras of the 70s and 80s.
Sonicwonder brings a funkier sound: Hiromi’s explosive quartet has no defined musical boundaries and has composed an unscrupulous electric and acoustic mix of jazz, rock and funk music. Tower of Power is the synonym that combines soul and funk music. Cha Wa is a funk band unlike any other since it is strictly connected with the ancient traditions of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras Indians.
Great personalities and talent to spare for two significant female figures: Fatoumata Diawara is one of the most intriguing personalities of the young African scene; Laufey – singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist – brings innovation to the international music business, and the Grammy Award she just won testified to her reputation.
Latin sounds will take the stage too: Roberto Fonseca is one of the best artists of the glorious Cuban piano school; Chucho Valdés is simply one of the most influential Cuban artists ever; Djavan is responsible for bringing together multiple cultures and contributed to opening the doors of the global music market to MPB; Pacific Mambo Orchestra is one of the best large Latin ensembles in the Continental USA.
These names join this year’s lineup with Lenny Kravitz, Raye, Toto, Veronica Swift and Nile Rodgers & CHIC.

Tickets will be available on Tuesday, February 27 at 12 pm.
