Fabrizio Bosso brings his new group to Umbria Jazz. The tentet includes his classic quartet with the six winds from Paolo Silvestri Winds Ensemble, arranged and directed by Paolo Silvestri.
The collaboration between the Turin-based trumpeter and Silvestri – a great expert of jazz writing – is longstanding and has produced some crucial moments of their careers: the 2007 Blue Note album “You’ve Changed” or projects such as Duke (a tribute to Ellington) and The Champ (dedicated to Dizzy Gillespie), which were both presented at Umbria Jazz. Bosso is a longstanding regular at the Festival.
The heart of the project is his consolidated and highly- acclaimed quartet, featuring Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano, Jacopo Ferrazza on bass (instead of Luca Alemanno, who was part of the original lineup) and Nicola Angelucci on drums. Bosso says: “The sound of the Quartet is the sound of my present, and they are friends but also the musicians who satisfy me the most on stage because they can bring out the sound I have in mind”. About Ten is a more complex project that renews Bosso’s partnership with Silvestri: a classic of Italian jazz music.
