The Scannapieco – Geremia 5et won the 2024 Conad Jazz Contest, which took place during the last edition of Umbria Jazz at Giardini Carducci. The contest is open to emerging jazz bands. The lineup: Antonio Scannapieco (24) on trumpet, Pasquale Geremia (22) on tenor sax, Guglielmo Santimone (23) on piano, Angelo Gregorio (22) on drums, and Vincenzo Nigro (27) on double bass.
According to the Contest, “the quintet’s style aims to show sonorities and timbres, intensities and colors dictated by wood and brass”.
This strong creative identity allowed the quintet to win the 5,000-euro prize, representing an important support to their career. The band will also perform at the most prestigious Italian jazz festivals, starting from Terni.
