Bombino

Born in Niger, in a Tuareg tribe, Bombino (this is his stage name) has become known as the bluesman of sub-Saharan Africa, capable of merging the heritage of his country’s music tradition and the love for electric guitar and its most outstanding rock performers, from Jimi Hendrix to Mark Knopfler. His style has been defined as “desert rock”.

In 2013, Nonesuch Records released his album “Nomad”, his international debut, produced by The Black Keys. Since then, his fame has crossed the boundaries of world music.

He is known in Italy for collaborating with Jovanotti, his great fan, in 2015 by playing the electric guitar and singing in “Si Alza il Vento”, from the album “Lorenzo 2015”. Bombino was a guest on Fabio Fazio’s show with Jovanotti. Raised during a historical time characterized by great tension and conflicts in his country, the rebel soul of the young Tuareg man often materializes in a harsh and visionary sound, symbolizing an Africa that wants to assert its new identity, although still tied to its roots.
