Berklee / UJ Clinics Award Group

What remains the same is the historic collaboration between the prestigious American institution and Umbria Jazz that allows students to improve their skills as jazzmen with the method and professionalism that formed generations of great artists. From its foundation in 1945, many artists have attended Berklee: Diana Krall, John Scofield, Bill Frisell, Branford Marsalis, Esperanza Spalding, Steve Vai, Gary Burton, Chaka Khan, Tony Bennett, Joe Zawinul, Joe Lovano, Pat Metheny. Altogether, Berklee alumni have won more than 300 Grammy Awards during their careers.

The presence of the students (applications are still open) also helps create a music campus that is a feature of the city during Umbria Jazz.

Even before the concerts start, Perugia begins to feel the Festival vibe. Early in the morning, students go to the Clinics holding their instruments. The college’s reputation is such that they come from all over the world. Applications also came from Morocco, South Africa, Ghana, Mauritius and China.

Thanks to them, the city resembles a campus where students study piano, guitar, ensemble music, bass, singing, and improvisation. And much more. Here’s everything you need to improve the jazz language and become an excellent professional musician.

The best students will be awarded scholarships to the Berklee College of Music undergraduate program in Boston.

Thanks to the sponsorship of UniCredit e UniCredit Allianz Vita, three young talents will receive a special award so they can fully enjoy this extraordinary experience.
