It all started with early jazz and its charm: the soundtrack of the Roaring Twenties of the first capitals of jazz music, from New Orleans to New York and Chicago. The Chicago Stompers are the most internationally renowned Italian hot jazz ensemble. These young musicians have specialized in performing philologically the repertoire of the American and European orchestras between the 20s and the 30s.
The repertoire is performed using transcriptions and arrangements that faithfully reproduce the original orchestrations.
To succeed in this operation, they had to play period instruments, listen and study 78 rpm records, learn and work on instrumental and vocal techniques of that time, and analyze footage and short films of the jazz orchestras of the 20s and 30s. The complex philological operation was necessary to recreate an unforgettable and faithful vintage jazz.
