Bassist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer Marcus Miller is one of the most influential figures in contemporary music, transcending even the boundaries of Black Music genres. A New York native, he was a key figure in Miles Davis’s electric era in the 1980s, both as a multi-instrumentalist and arranger. He is counted among the greats of the electric bass, alongside Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. Marcus Miller has performed at Umbria Jazz several times, most recently in 2016. Among all his appearances, the performance of the super band Legends (with Eric Clapton on guitar) at Villa Fidelia in Spello stands out as one of the festival’s most unforgettable concerts.
