Peter Bernstein earned a front-row seat on the New York jazz guitar scene at the end of the ‘80s. Since then, he has carried out intense live and studio activity, releasing about ten albums to his name and working as a sideman with musicians such as Sonny Rollins, Bobby Hutcherson, George Coleman, Lou Donaldson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Diana Krall, Lee Konitz. His gentle and modern style – ideal for an elegant and musically “cultured” mainstream – has made him a popular and respected performer.
With the uncommon guitar-piano formula on the frontline, Bernstein debuted in the early 90s, and the pianist was Brad Mehldau. The Bernstein trio is joined by tenor saxophonist Piero Odorici, one of the Italian jazzmen with a solid international profile. Odorici has collaborated with famous musicians such as Cedar Walton, George Cables, Eumir Deodato and Curtis Fuller. The audience of Umbria Jazz knows it very well since he has performed many times in the resident band of the midnight clubs.
