GIL EVANS “MILES AHEAD” and “PORGY AND BESS”

directed by RYAN TRUESDELL

feat. JAY ANDERSON, STEVE WILSON & LEWIS NASH

special guest PAOLO FRESU

Ryan Truesdell is appearing in three exclusive concerts at Umbria Jazz Winter with his project dedicated to Gil Evans featuring Steve Wilson, Jay Anderson and Lewis Nash plus special guest Paolo Fresu. In recent years Truesdell has been engaged in a commendable exploration and rediscovery of the scores of one of the most brilliant jazz composers and arrangers of the last fifty years. Following on from two award-winning recordings, Centennial and Lines of Color, in Orvieto he will be presenting a new work as part of what has fittingly been called the Gil Evans Project. The concert will feature the original compositions of two of the four records that Evans made with Miles Davis, Miles Ahead (1957) and Porgy and Bess (1958).
