Plan your trip to Orvieto

From the A1 highway, exit at Orte and follow road signs to the town center (about 4,5 km away from the exit).

Orvieto is approximately one hour away from Rome by car and one hour and 45 minutes away from Florence. It is one hour away from Terni and Perugia and less than an hour from Viterbo.

Another main solution is the E45 if you come from Perugia: exit at “Orvieto-Todi”, take the SS71, and follow road signs to Orvieto.

The main Umbria towns (perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Spoleto, Terni) can be reached via the E45. You can also get to Orvieto via the SS2 (Cassia) that goes down from Buonviaggio-Villanova with a scenic route and a parking area called “Il Belvedere di Orvieto”.

Orvieto is located on the Rome-Florence-Milan railway line, so it can be easily reached by train.

The train station of Orvieto was one of the first in central Italy and is still well connected with Rome (1 hour) and Florence (2 hours).

Further information on urban and suburban lines from other areas of Umbria and Lazio is on the websites of the local transport companies, Busitalia (Umbria) and Cotral (Lazio).

The urban and suburban bus station is located in Piazzale Matteotti (in front of the train station and next to the funicular station), while the tourist bus station (€ 45,00 per day) is situated in Piazza della Pace (under the train station). Further information on touristic buses here.

The closest airport to Perugia is Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi – Umbria International Airport (PEG): find out all the info on national and international flights on www.airport.umbria.it.
