It ends today Jazz in August.
It ends today Jazz in August.
That it would not be the usual “Umbria Jazz”, as we all know it, we made it clear right away: in common with UJ there was only the original and symbolic location of Piazza IV Novembre. While everything else that characterizes UJ (the international artists, the crowd baths, the dances, the crowded Corso) was not possible this year, so much so that Umbria Jazz 20 was cancelled.
These were four intense days which – precisely because of the necessary and unabhorable anti-Covid regulations – inevitably created some discomfort for the city, the exhibitors, the public, insiders and artists, but which brought back an element that has been inextricably linked to Perugia for 47 years: Music.
Music that has finally returned as a protagonist, with an event that has proved to be an excellent territorial marketing action for the city and the territory, especially in the future: after a long period of time we try to return to normality, albeit with some inevitable and indispensable limitations.
The Umbria Jazz Foundation would like to thank all those who – with their hard work – have made all this possible: the institutions, sponsors, insiders, musicians and obviously the public, an essential element, once again and finally present.
And it wants to thank for the patience and sensitivity of all those who have endured the hardships, certain that Umbria Jazz will return in the coming years to be the essential driving force behind the city’s economy.
Hopefully this is only the beginning, and with this hope we will give you an appointment at Umbria Jazz 21, in Perugia from 9 to 18 July 2021, with a programme that has already been confirmed at the Arena S. Giuliana Tom Jones, Jamie Cullum, Chick Corea, Stefano Bollani, Branford Marsalis, Redman-Mehldau-McBride-Blade, Wynton Marsalis, Veronica Swift.
